Dear All,

It's been a long time since there were any news regarding the formation of the alumni band.
As it stands now, the plans for the formation is postponed till further notice. I'm not in the position to comment about the issue since any news I've heard about it comes from a 3rd party.

Anyhow, i believe that we can still keep our alumni list growing. =)
So spread the word, join the alumni. There can't be an alumni band without an alumni right?

Hey guys! Thx for all the responses. To date 07/01/2008, we've got 32 positive responses and i believe there are more to come! So pple, keep this going by spreading the news around as i do not hav the email address of all people!!

For the time being, we're still waiting for a response from Ms Chan regarding this. As for now, anyone who is keen to help me out with this, u're most welcome! coz i cant possibly do all these on my own! Do email me if u're interested.

hmm we've got some stuff lined up for after promos, some of which you've heard about. as we all know, we're gonna have this exchange with a jap band. more details on that after the promos when the teachers brief us on the proceedings.

oh yea. due to the concert next year, mdm wong would like me to infrom you guys that pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease refrain from committing to the pre-u sem. it will be extremely time-consuming. and mrs tan has promised not to touch us band members for this event. please dont commit for OGLs also cuz you guys really wont have enough time to juggle OGL duties with band pracs, and OGLs are also likely to be involved in pre-u sem as ushers or someting like that, according to what mdm wong said.

- and pls turn up for ALL BAND PRACT. this period of time is very cruical for all year 1s cause the year 2s will be stepping down soon. the rest of the year 1s, pls ask ur fellow section mates to come for band pract. in my opinion, i don`t see the reason why some of them can come for all band practs while some others can`t.

this wed, 26 april 2006, EVERYONE is supposed to be in SCHOOL UNIFORM
cause there will be a phototaking session for the band. Girls, if possible, pls wear SKIRT instead of the sch pants. Guys, don`t play a fool and wear a skirt. haha.

and on fri, 28 april 2006, there must be full attendance. Ms chan wants to see FULL ATTENDANCE.
pls don`t make her angry, she`s very good ok.. full attendance is needed cause the band will be playing for college day somewhere in late may. she has to see the band strenght too. and there is only 3 more combines to college day, so take things seriously ok.

To me, i personally feel that the trip was a huge success.I'm sure all of enjoyed the trip to a certain extent. Time flies too fast. I had been looking forward to the trip way before my Alevels and its over in a breeze.

Me, on the behalf of my fellow bandmates would like to again express our gratitude to the angels who made this trip possible. First and foremost, yong sun and benny, our tour agent incharge of our band, Ms Leong, for organising and doing much of the paperwork for us, Ms Tan and Mr Tan for joining and assisting Ms Leong in the preperation and taking care of us. We don't know if they will read this but we will never forget the cheerful and interactive tour around HongKong which wouldn't have been possible without the fun loving tour guides, Linda and William.

Last but not least, a very big thank you to Ms Chan who has put in loads of effort in bringing up the band since the establishment of our school. She has done more than just getting us a first Gold medal for the SYF.

IMPORTANT

A copy of members' passport particulars page and the latest validity page were requested about 3 weeks ago. To date, theres 8 members who have yet submitted the required documents. This really really performed a perfect analogy of subito meno mosso in the paperwork process. Subito means suddenly.. and meno mosso as what we've learnt recently.. it means not so fast.. so the paperwork suddenly became not so fast when it could be so. My point here is that the leaders and teachers really need all of you guys' co-orperation to really make this trip a successful one.

The itenary for the hongkong trip has changed. I personally don't know what it's change to but lets just go there and enjoy ourselves alright? not to mention that you guys at the same time should perform well too.

I want to express my gratitude again to the excos for puttin up with the very much trouble they'd been into for this preparation for the trip. hhip hipp horayy =]

SECTIONALS

I think you guys should put in as much effort as how much we had put in in preparation for SYF. It is only possible to perform well if everyone has the desire for the band to do so.

DOs
-be sirius.. i mean serious
-good and proper warm-ups, listen for articulation
-tuning
-good time management, work on the parts that the section can't sound well.

DONTs
-long breaks
-individual practice, this shud be done at home.
-playin thru a song again and again, it doesnt improve on anything

Let me recall the announcements. hmm.

Every member are required to have the band sweater for the hongkong trip. If he or she didn't purchase one the last time, please borrow it from the members who are not going for the trip.

Temperature in hongkong during our trip is expected to dip down wayy to absolute zero. For the non-physics student.. absolute zero means zero degrees on the kelvin scale. It has never been reached before in the history of mankind. I THINK the lowest temp. reached was 1 or 2 degrees Kelvin. Hmm. 0 degrees Kelvin mis equivalent -273.15 degrees Celcius.

Okay.. enough of education. I had enough of it. Temp. in Hongkong is said to go down to 5 degrees Celcius More and thicker clothes needed =( Bad news for the guys because girls will be overly covered up. LOL

Alright pple.. i know its time i clear the cobwebs on this blog.. its been a while and ive been busy with As and stuff.. and i thought GeeZac would continue the blogg so that people would keep on coming but sadly its dormant again. PJCSB HongKong Concert tour 2005 !

GeeZac and his fellow excos have been going through alot of hastle to try so hard to desiminate infos, juggling those paperwork, chasing after members for stuff etc. Apart from applauding for their great efforts, i would also want to encourage members to try their best to be more prompt and do their best to co-orperate with the leaders.. yadaa yadaa..

To spice things further, there's a few sizzling hot gossips that is pouring through the band members. In case you missed that luck to actually hear of it, i'm going to share it with you guys right here.

We had a little outing to the ICA building, for those who don't know, its the immigration and checkpoint authority building, formerly called the SIR or singapore immigration and registration building. We went there of course to extend our passport validity. Something caught our attention though. Our dearest, cutest percussionist was spotted red handed ! HERE'S EVIDENCE

He's so gonna kill me.. Its only gonna be up for 3 days.

And while walking, clement and i din realise that we're getting stares from people only to realise after some time that we're like modelling for Singapore's next top model. Here's the picss

We did our homework. Ms chan wants a uniform sweater/windbreaker for all the members for the trip. Of the many different variety of designs, we rooted down the choices to 4 unique, impressive and eye-catchy outfit. We love it. So will you. Oh do vote for your choices =]

3) Sweet Purple - We originally wanted to find an eskimo suit, but the closest match we could find was this purple jacket with a hood. Nothing impressive here.

4) The Classic - This one is made from canvas-like materials. Its ultra thickness provides maximum warmth. Not to mention it makes people look fat/fatter. [no offense]

~Payment for the trip will have to be made in around 2 weeks time. It will be a 2 time payment, meaning you will pay 50% of it first and another 50% on another date. However if you are able to pay all at once, you can do so as well~

Members are also reminded to check the validity of their passport, especially guys who are entering NS, there may be a few procedures that you may have to go through. If you have any enquiries, you can check with the Immigration Board. Passport must be of at least 6 months validity

Members can still back out even if they put a tick on the list. The deadline is extended i suppose. The list of confirmation is still up on the notice board. Mdm wong just wants a rough number of members who wants to go and can afford to go for the concert tour. Ignore the deposit of $500 issues. =/ Deposit will only be paid once you decide you will definitely go. the deposit need not be in cash, it can be through edusave.

net total price of trip has been reduced from S$1160 to S$800+ - before sch subsidy. (notice that theres no underlying asterisks anywhere)

This means members pay less (duh) and hopefully this will relieve those financial stress issues. Go la.. all go lahh =( After subsidy, members will pay the balance of S$300+ be it by cash or edusave. This is undeniably great savings! much greater than The value dollar shop.

The amount of subsidy by the school might be increased too but i'm not sure how much so i won't say it yet untill i know the exact amount. I don't want to make mistakes and spread wrong infos again =/ sorry guan zhong. I will buy you more bak kwa at hongkong okay...

OKAY I WILL POST SOMETHING AGAIN

Its abit late but members are required to finalise and indicate their interest for the PJCSB hongkong concert tour 2005 end of this year. I'm not sure of the details of the tour (dates etc.) but it's available at the band notice board. by tomorrow, 14sept . The cost will be at a stunning low price of $1160. The school will be subsidising $300plus and the balance will be deducted from the edusave account or cash if insufficient. I will verify the details again. =/

Please be aware that once a tick is indicated on the finalised list, it is an irreversible process which means, members have to pay a required non-refundable deposit of $500, whether or not you decide not to go after ticking against your name.

Members, particularly the j1s, are again advised to do well for the promotional exams and not worry about re-exams which most probbably would fall within the concert tour dates. There's no re-exam for the Alevel for the j2s. There's only ONE chance.

Me, as an enthusiastic band member from the 04 batch, strongly encourage members to go for this concert tour. Its a once in a lifetime promising and enriching experience for a band member to observe and learn the different band cultures in another country. Afterall, we will be visiting the newly opened Disneyland and have fun at the same time together with the PJCSB family. I, as well as most of the other band members, really hope for an encouraging turnout for this tour. You will doubtlessly cherish the moments we are going to have there.

Heellllo band !

Great job for the NDP performance. It was generally alright. Just that some sections were too loud on certain parts.. Nonetheless, it's still a job well done, under the baton of maestro guanzhong, despite the short notice given. I will wait for the teachers' day performance then... it better be incredibly good. =]

Why am i bloggin' here ? Perhaps it is to spark off life in this blog as updates are once every leap year. So i'm just gonna babble about band issues.. So that there will be more craps for people to read.. ahaha.

This section is for the leaders to make general instructions for everyone in the band inlcuding the members, like informing attire plans for certain practices, or telling all the section leaders about a meeting or the deadline of some given task. Concert details and instructions will also be posted here. However, its gonna be damn formal and boring. hah. Since im going to pass the account to the leaders so they can post, i suppose they (guanzhong and eileen) will occasionally write what the feel of the band. haa.. I think i will only take charge of updating the other sections as it requires manual editing of the html.

-faq/feedback section

This section is for people namely the members and alumnis to clear any doubts about anything. The leaders will reply throught that tag board. Alternatively, if its an urgent matter, the leaders should call them up to tell.

Alumnis' webpage or blogs and emails will be linked from this blog.
This will help the leaders and exco to pass on info to specific alumnis. vice versa

-the member's section

The members' blogs and emails will also be linked according to their sections.
This might help Leaders and exco to desiminate infos to specific section leaders and hence their members. vice versa

eg.Members or alumnis who wish to publicise certain concerts can email the leaders so that it can be publicised in the concert ad section. 2) if the leaders feel that some section, say the recorder section needs to buck up because attendance is bad, he can email that particular section leader to work on it. 3)Excos who needs to inform the band regarding band fund for eg. can inform the leaders so it will be posted on the announcements section. and so on.

-band practice schedule section

This section will provide general band practice schedule as well as holiday schedule. Sudden changes in band practice will be posted on the announcement section.

I don't know if the teachers will use this. lol. i dun even know if this is gonna be useful to the band. Passing on info here is undeniably slow and not 100% effective because not everyone will read. Therefore, its always best to ask the leaders directly, or and its also best for the leaders to call the people up to tell directly. Everyone has handphones now rite ? haha. I suppose this will only come in usefull when we hav long breaks from band practice, and when people dun't go to school to check the notice board.
